When the diesel generator sets are operated at a high temperature, the oxidation stability of the lubricating oil deteriorates, which intensifies its thermal decomposition, oxidation and polymerization. At the same time, the dust in the dry air and the moisture in the moist air enter the engine oil pan through the air intake system and the crankcase vent to contaminate the lubricating oil, so the lubricating oil is easily deteriorated. The viscosity of lubricating oil changes with the increase of temperature, that is, the viscosity of lubricating oil decreases when it is heated, and it is easy to cause the lubricating oil to be consumed too quickly.
Therefore, under the conditions of lubrication guarantee, according to the use of temperature range, unit temperature and actual conditions, as much as possible the use of low viscosity lubricants. For units with good vehicle conditions and relatively small wear, you can select lubricants with low viscosity, and for those units with severe wear and relatively large clearances, lubricants with slightly higher viscosity can be used properly.
Of course, even if you choose a lubricant with moderate viscosity, if the quality of the oil itself is not good, it will cause damage to the diesel generator set.
