In view of the factors such as high pollution and irrational industrial structure in the inorganic salt industry in China, which restrict development, promote structural adjustment, enhance independent innovation capability, continuously improve the technological level, and promote the development of recycling economy is the top priority of the industry. This was proposed by Ye Haiting, president of the Inorganic Salt Industry Association, at the second member congress of the China Inorganic Salt Industry Association held in Beijing on October 18.
During the "10th Five-Year Plan" period, the inorganic salt industry in China developed rapidly. By 2005, China’s total sales of inorganic salt products reached 148 billion yuan, with a total capacity of 45 million tons and a total output of 36 million tons. The output of 11 kinds of inorganic salt products such as barium carbonate ranks first in the world, and cyanidation. The output of eight kinds of products such as sodium ranks second in the world, and China has become the largest producer and consumer of inorganic salt products in the world.
The meeting elected the second council of the association. Elected Ye Haiting as president, Wu Mingyao, Zhang Xiaozhong and 23 other vice presidents and Wang Xiaofeng as secretary general. The association also invited Li Shizhong as honorary president.
