Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Corporation plans to reduce its number by 6000

Tokyo news: It is reported that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. plans to reduce the number of employees from the current 67,000 to 61,000 in fiscal year 2005 to cut costs.
It is reported that this program is part of the company's four-year management plan that has been implemented since fiscal year 2002. It will employ staff's "natural consumption" instead of forcing layoffs in a voluntary retirement manner. In the future, there will be about 2,000 people each year. Employees aged between 60 and retire.
It is expected that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will speed up the reduction of the shipbuilding personnel plan after the implementation of the plan. Due to the increasingly fierce competition from South Korea, the company’s shipbuilding department is under tremendous pressure to cut costs.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries also plans to deploy more personnel to departments with brighter prospects such as aerospace and energy while laying off staff. (Xinhua News Agency)
