It is reported that the British Energy Technology Research Institute (ETI) is working with Teignbridge Propeller International Co., Ltd. (TPIL) on a £3 million project to jointly develop a Marine Efficient Propulsion System (HEPS).
The two-year project, which will be developed, will be retrofitted on most ships to increase fuel efficiency by 8%.
David Duncan, Chairman of Teignbridge Propeller International Ltd., said, “I am very pleased to be selected to participate in this technology development and demonstration project, which is consistent with our research and development strategy. We have excellent engineering design team and design background, we are building a An advanced R&D test ship."
The Energy Technology Institute is also conducting a number of demonstration projects that will combine the cost-effectiveness of the shipping industry to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by up to 30%.
The Energy Technology Institute also recently released a report analyzing the UK shipping industry, saying that UK shipowners and operators have the opportunity to adopt the most promising technologies, including marine efficient propulsion systems, to reduce fuel consumption economically.
