A total of 5 fatalities and 13 injuries resulted from the collapse of the construction site in Yulin, Shaanxi Province

Xi'an, August 23rd reporter learned on the morning of the 23rd from the Yulin Municipal Government in Shaanxi Province that a construction site collapse in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, occurred on the morning of the 22nd. At 22:50 on the 22nd, 18 persons were trapped and all were rescued. Among them, 5 were dead (2 were rescued and died) and 13 others were in the hospital.

Yulin City is located in the northern part of Shaanxi Province, at the junction of the Loess Plateau in northern Shaanxi and the southern margin of Maowusu Sandy Land. It is also a transitional area between the Loess Plateau and Inner Mongolia Plateau. It is a national historical and cultural city.

At 9:53 on August 22, a subsidence accident occurred in the underground project of the original Yulin Carpet Factory renovation project near the newly built road in Yulin City, causing 18 construction workers to be buried.

After the incident, the local government adopted emergency rescue measures to organize and direct more than 500 armed police officers, technical experts, and cadres and people in public security, fire protection, armed police, safety supervision, housing construction, and health departments to rescue. The emergency rescue headquarters was established on site.

The reporter learned that most of the on-site constructors are outsiders, mainly native of Sichuan. At present, the injured have a stable condition and no life-threatening risks. The person responsible for the accident has been controlled by the police, and all the aftermaths are being carried out in an orderly manner.

It is reported that Yulin City has set up a joint investigation team composed of the municipal construction, safety supervision, public security, and supervision departments to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the specific causes of the accident and related responsibilities.
