In order to avoid these undesirable phenomena, a by-pass valve is provided in parallel with the coarse filter in a section of the oil passage from the oil pump to the main gallery. When the crude oil filter oil into and out of the oil pressure difference exceeds the specified value, the bypass valve is pushed open, so that the oil does not pass through the coarse filter directly into the main oil, in order to ensure the normal lubrication of various parts of the engine. At this point lubrication is the main, filtration is secondary. The main oil into the main oil though not filtered, some dirty, but the engine will not be due to lack of lubrication and dry friction, a serious failure.
