·The sales of the joint venture brands of the four major auto companies far exceed the independent brands

Recently, eight auto manufacturers around the world, including Toyota, Volkswagen and GM, announced their sales in China in 2015. According to the statistics of the "Securities Daily" reporters, the sales of these eight automakers in China reached 13.56 million units. Among them, Toyota's sales in China accounted for 11.12% of global sales, while Volkswagen's share was as high as 35.73%. According to the previously calculated global target sales of 4.65 million units, Honda's sales in China also accounted for 24.64% of the total global sales.

In 2015, the top four domestic automobile sales companies were SAIC, Dongfeng, FAW and Changan. The four major auto companies contributed a total of 12.6484 million units of sales data, which accounted for half of the total domestic automobile sales, accounting for 51.30%. Among them, the sales volume of self-owned brands was 2,110,100, while the sales volume of joint-venture brands reached 10.538 million, which is nearly 5 times higher than that of independent brands.

"Securities Daily" reporters sorted out the general sales of passenger cars in the car companies and found that the joint venture car companies have strong momentum and occupy the majority of seats. Changan Automobile (Weibo) and Great Wall Motor, as the only remaining independent automakers, ranked among the top ten and ranked fifth and ninth.

Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the National Passenger Car Market Information Association, believes that self-owned brands have seen rapid growth in sales in recent years due to the catch-up of SUV and MPV development. Among them, Changan Automobile, Great Wall Motor, Geely Automobile and Jianghuai Automobile became the main incremental sources of their own brands.

Some industry analysts believe that joint venture brands rely on scale advantages and advanced technology to continuously introduce more cost-effective products will further increase the pressure of survival of their own brands.
More than 13.56 million units sold in China

It is reported that Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mazda and other four Japanese car companies have achieved year-on-year sales growth, while Volkswagen, GM, Hyundai-Kia and other automakers have experienced negative growth in overall market-impacted performance.

In terms of Japanese, sales in China rebounded in 2015, relying on new products, expanding sales network and increasing marketing efforts. The average growth rate reached 14.8%, far exceeding the industry average growth rate.

Data show that Toyota, Nissan and Mazda have achieved year-on-year growth in sales. Among them, Mazda's growth rate reached 11.5% to 23.52 vehicles. In addition, Toyota and Nissan also increased by 8.7% and 6.3%, respectively, and completed sales of 1,122,500 and 1,250,100 units. Compared with Toyota’s sales of 10.098 million vehicles in 2015, Toyota’s sales in China accounted for 11.12% of its total sales.
GM's 2015 annual sales volume exceeded 3.162 million units, a slight increase of 5.2% year-on-year, defeating Volkswagen to become the world's highest cumulative sales volume in 2015. Another American car company, Ford Motor Co., sold a total of 1,115,100 vehicles in China in 2015, an increase of 3.0% year-on-year.

German Volkswagen's sales in China in 2015 were 3.548 million units, down 3.4% year-on-year, giving way to the crown in China. In terms of global sales, due to the “emission gate”, Volkswagen's delivery volume in 2015 decreased by 2.0% year-on-year to 9.931 million units, less than the sales volume of Toyota over 10 million units. As in previous years, the Chinese market is still the “blessed land” of Volkswagen's sales, and sales in China contributed up to 35.73% of its global sales.

Hyundai Kia has experienced its first decline in China in eight years, falling to 4.9% year-on-year to 1,678,900 units. However, the sales of the above two car companies in the fourth quarter of last year have shown signs of recovery, and it is expected to improve in 2016.
