Shimadzu has successfully developed a high-sensitivity trace moisture measurement system through a collaborative study with Prof. Daniel W. Armstrong of the University of Texas at Arlington and the German company Merck. This system combines the technology invented by Professor Armstrong and the company's high performance gas chromatography "Nexis GC-2030." With our company's dielectric barrier discharge plasma detector "BID-2030" and ion chromatography "Watercol", gas samples and partial liquid samples can be analyzed with high accuracy. The GC High Sensitivity Moisture Assay can be used for a variety of purposes. The co-developed system fully utilizes the fact that the instrument is not susceptible to impurities, and can be effectively used in the determination of residual trace moisture in LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). At present, in order to allow the quality management department of the LPG sector to adopt the system, we are applying to ASTM (American Testing Materials Association) to apply this method to the analysis standard.
