There is pollution to the surrounding environment and affects the physical and mental health of workers. In addition, there are unfavorable factors such as low recovery rate, high grade requirements for antimony concentrate, low impurity content and high energy consumption, which prompts people to study new processes of antimony smelting. After a large number of laboratory studies, expansion tests and industrial tests, the choice of bismuth slurry electrolysis to replace the reverberatory furnace. In 1997, the company was built and put into production in the world's first slurry electrolysis industrial production plant. The economic index of antimony slurry electrolysis technology is obviously better than that of reverberatory furnace. The pollution to the surrounding environment is greatly reduced, the process is smooth, and the equipment works well. The completion of the factory has laid a solid foundation for the application of slurry electrolysis.

First, the process

The pulp electrolysis process of Shizhuyuanyu Smelter is shown in Figure 1. The cerium concentrate is slurried in the pulping tank and flows into the anode area of ​​the slurry electrolysis tank to be leached and electrolyzed. The slurry overflows from the first slurry electrolyzer and flows into the anode zone of the second slurry electrolyzer, continuously passing through 6 slurry electrolyzers. After that, the cerium content in the leaching slag is reduced to about 1%, and at this point, the leaching is considered to be completed. Pulp slurry into the cell 6 from the middle of the overflow slurry tank, then pump mineral ore by the pump into the chamber filter press filtration and washing, the leaching residue discharged stockpiling, sulfur may be sold as a concentrate, can also be considered re-dressing The molybdenum in the slag is recovered. The filtered filtrate is returned to the slurry tank for recycling as a slurry. After the solution is circulated for a while, a part of the solution is taken out to open the process to prevent impurities from accumulating in the solution. The original design has an extraction and iron removal process, extracting part of the solution and extracting the iron in the solution to maintain the balance of the whole system iron, but the extraction and iron removal process has been omitted in the actual operation. The powder is periodically extracted from the cathode diaphragm pocket, filtered by a plate and frame filter press, and the filtrate is returned to the anode region of the electrolytic cell. The electrolyte is circulated to supplement the cathode region with cerium ions to prevent the catholyte from being depleted. After the sponge is washed, the compact is dehydrated and then sent to reduction smelting. The refining process uses the original fire refining equipment and operating procedures.

As a new metallurgical method, slurry electrolysis, the most critical equipment is the slurry electrolysis cell. This kind of electrolytic cell is very different in function from the traditional electrolytic cell. It must meet the conditions required for leaching, electrowinning and partial purification. Therefore, it is completely different in structure from the general electrolytic cell. This is also a researcher at home and abroad. The focus of the research. The slurry electrolyzer started from the laboratory scale and passed the 1m 3 single-slot expansion test. Finally, six continuous slurry electrolyzers were established in the Shizhuyuan smelting plant. The single tank volume was 3m 3 and the cell size was 1500mm×1450mm× 1450mm.
